DC Rivals Hypercoaster, will be closed for its regular annual maintenance from April 27th to June 21st, 2024 period.

Confirmed maintenance tasks include a full lift hill chain inspection, lift hill motor inspection, replacement of drive tires, and replacement and checks of the breaking system of the ride and if need be replacement of any broken brake fins.
Additionally, the trains will undergo disassembly and reassembly procedures similar to Superman Escape.

Issues with the ride

We are hopeful that this maintenance period will address some persistent issues that the ride experiences,
One notable issue is the loud anti-rollback mechanism that activates when the train engages and disengages with the chain lift's anti-rollback.
It has been confirmed to us that it is, in fact, not the anti-rollback mechanism causing the noise; rather, it is the rear chain dog of the train. We have been advised that this sound cannot be fixed (as provided to us via Facebook comments).

The ride will also be undergoing its final repaint, the track repaint is expected to be completed. Over the last couple of years, the track has been repainted in stages and this year will complete the final stage of this.

Another issue involves a rattling noise on one of the trains, which, although slight, can be quite annoying. This rattling is most noticeable on the high G-force sections and the bunny hills toward the end of the ride.

We are hopeful that the queue time board will be repaired, and improvements will be made to the queue line's appearance, addressing issues like paint peeling and worn-out railings.

However, this closure period has been havily criticised. Starting on a Saturday (27/04/2025) closing just before the end of the interstate school holidays, many feel it's one of the worst times to visit Movie World. Adding to the frustration, Wild West Falls will also be closed for maintenance from April 29th to June 25th, and Road Runner Roller Coaster from May 20th to June 21st, and will not reopen until the QLD June/July school holidays have started.

With heavy capacity restrictions and several headlining rides unavailable, fans have criticised the park's planning and decision-making. Despite the outcry, Warner Bros. Movie World has not provided any further explanation for the timing of the closures.

We do not recommend visiting the park during this time if you want to experience Movie Worlds 'best rides & attractions'.
