Our Tips for Movie World This September School Holidays
The peak season is upon us again! With the parks expecting high crowd levels, I thought I’d share some tips to help make your day more enjoyable and less chaotic.
Before I continue, please note: During this busy September school holiday season, staff will be working harder than usual, so please keep that in mind and help them out however you can. A little kindness goes a long way, and staff will really appreciate the cooperation and understanding from guests.
Please be patient and considerate if situations arise that are beyond their control.
From us here at WBMW Insider, we’ve developed the WBMW Crowd Calendar to help you plan your visits. Check out our daily crowd predictions at crowds.wbmwinsider.com
Now, on to the tips! I hope they help you navigate the school holidays. Feel free to share any of your own in the comments below!
Fast Track is your friend – If it's available, definitely get it!
Companion wristbands and queue proxies – If you or anyone with you has a physical or mental disability, you might be eligible for the companion wristband from guest services. The queue proxy is also a great option.
Arrive early or wait it out – Either get to the park early to avoid the 10am rush, or arrive around 10:30am once the bulk of guests have already entered.
Stick around after the parade at Movie World – You might be able to squeeze in a few more rides once the crowd thins out.
Get to shows early – Arrive a few minutes before showtimes for the best view.
Line up early for big shows – Aim to be in line at least 30 minutes before the start, or earlier if you don’t mind the wait. Shows fill up quickly during school holidays.
Prioritise character meet-and-greets – Plan ahead and get to character locations a few minutes early to avoid disappointment.
Dodge the lunch rush – Try eating before or after peak lunch hours for shorter wait times at food outlets.
Pick the quieter restrooms – Head to restrooms that aren’t near the park entrance or busy attractions for shorter lines.
Birthday celebration? Grab a sticker early! – If you’re celebrating, get a birthday sticker from guest services early in the day, as they can run out.
Snacks first! – Prioritise certain foods like churros, popcorn, or hotdogs earlier in the day; they tend to taste fresher.
Comfort is key – Wear comfortable shoes and clothes since you’ll be standing in long lines.
Stay sun-safe and hydrated – The changing weather from spring to summer can be tricky. If you feel unwell due to heat, find shade and hydrate. Seek help if needed, as heatstroke can get serious quickly.
Pack spare clothes and swimmers – In case you want to cool off at the water play areas or Wet'n'Wild, always bring a change of clothes.
Have a meeting point – If you're with a large group or kids, arrange a meeting point in case anyone gets separated.
Know where the amenities are – Familiarise yourself with the location of restrooms, food outlets, and first aid.
In an emergency – Don’t hesitate to ask any staff member for assistance.
Avoid running – As tempting as it is, running to your favourite ride is unsafe, especially with crowded walkways.
Remember your parking spot! – Try to park near a landmark or larger vehicle (e.g., a camper van) to make finding your car easier.
Pack basic first aid – Bring along painkillers, antihistamines, and bandaids just in case. If you need more help, alert staff or head to first aid.
That’s all I can think of for now! Thanks for reading, and if you have any more tips, please share them below.
