Superman Escape Has Reopened After an Extended Maintenance Closure!
Superman Escape, Warner Bros. Movie World's iconic INTAMIN Accelerator rollercoaster, has officially reopened today after being closed since late April due to issues with its hydraulic launch system.
In the lead-up to the reopening, the park released several updates explaining the closure and detailing the efforts to resolve the issues. Most recently, the park shared an informative video providing a behind-the-scenes look at the repair process.
Madison from the park explained:
Our team is currently working alongside INTAMIN, the ride's manufacturer, who have engineered multiple bespoke components in their facilities in Germany. These components have now been shipped to us here on the Gold Coast, and our engineering team has installed them into the rideβs accumulators.
Key details from the video include:
- The ride features six nitrogen pressure accumulators and two hydraulic oil piston accumulators.
- The nitrogen accumulators operate at 240 bar and contain approximately 4,500 liters of nitrogen.
- The hydraulic system processes around 9,000 liters of hydraulic oil.
Testing began early this week, with the goal of reopening as soon as possible.
In a park update shared on the 3rd of May it was stated stated that the rideΒ is to receive a refurbishment of the queuing area and the removal of the lockers system!' Shared on Facebook. THIS CHANGE HAS NOT BEEN IMPLEMENTED.
Today, we had the opportunity to ride Superman Escape numerous times, and it was well worth the wait. Although the park was operating only one train, leading to a 40-minute wait time throughout the day, the experience was fantastic. All the dark ride effects were functioning perfectly, and the hydraulic launch was just as exhilarating as ever! Kudos to Movie World for getting this ride back up and running so efficiently.
