Originally slated to be named Rio Bravo, after the film of the same name, the ride underwent several name changes before its opening. It was initially named Wild Wild West, inspired by the movie starring Will Smith and Kevin Kline. However, due to licensing issues, the name was later changed to Wild West Falls Adventure Ride. Despite the name changes, elements of the original theming remain, including a video shown in the queue featuring scenes from classic Warner Bros. westerns and Wild Wild West's trailer and music video.

Opening and Incidents:

Wild West Falls Adventure Ride officially opened to the public on 26 December 1998. However, it faced challenges, including an accident during construction where the mountain peak was destroyed. In December 2003, the ride was temporarily closed due to a fire that caused significant damage to the top section. After repairs and modifications, the ride resumed operation a few weeks later.

Ride Experience

The Wild West Falls Adventure Ride offers an exciting journey through themed environments, culminating in a thrilling drop. Riders pass through geysers, mine shafts, a ghost town, and a graveyard before entering the Rio Bravo mine. The ride features two lift hills, and riders experience a surprise backward drop and whitewater rapids. The highlight of the ride is the final drop, where riders descend at speeds of up to 70 kilometers per hour from a height of 20 meters. Rio Bravo, named after the film, is a flume ride located at Parque Warner Madrid (formerly known as Warner Bros. Movie World Madrid). Manufactured by Intamin, Rio Bravo offers a similar experience to its Australian counterpart with an identical layout and featuring themed elements such as geysers, a ghost town, and a thrilling drop.

Construction

Changes and Upgrades:

In August 2022, during the ride's annual maintenance period, several changes were implemented. These included replacing the constant motion station with a 3-position station where boats come to a complete stop for loading and unloading, adding load gates in the style of saloon doors, upgrading the control system for theming elements, and replacing the boats with new ones manufactured by WhiteWater West. The new boats feature individual hydraulic lap bars for improved rider safety. However, these changes reduced the ride's capacity from 1440 riders per hour to 600 riders per hour.
