Wild West Falls to undergo Two Month Maintenance Closure

WBMW Insider Maintenance

Warner Bros. Movie World's classic Wild West Falls Adventure Ride will be closed from April 29th to June 21st, 2024 to undergo its annual maintenance period.

During the maintenance period, several tasks are slated to be carried out to uphold the ride's safety and operational standards.

This includes:

  • The drive wheels on turntables have their bearings and chains replaced. The main lift chains are measured for stretch, there is a maximum amount of stretch allowed before the chain must be replaced, generally every 3-4 years.
  • All motor drive gearboxes have their oil replaced.
  • Main Water Pump Replacement: The main water pump will be removed and replaced with a spare unit, with the removed pump undergoing a thorough overhaul by the manufacturer.
  • Boat Inspections: Regular maintenance and inspections of the boats will be conducted to ensure safety and functionality, including visual inspections, component testing, and load testing of restraint cylinders.

Effects and Queue Line Issues:

While Wild West Falls is a very beloved attraction aproaching 26 years this December, it is understandable that some of the effects and elements may not be functioning properly.

The most noticeable include the crane on the approach to lift one, the non-tilting boulders after the turn around, and occasional malfunctioning saloon doors before the final drop lifthill. Ocasionally there are delays in the audio of the ride, where you will float along in complete silence.

Additionally, the queue line has shown signs of neglect, with engravings, unpleasant odors from the carpet, and a need for a quick dusting.

This maintenance closure does extend into the start of the June/July school holidays, a very interesting move.

Despite these maintenance requirements, guests can still enjoy a variety of other attractions, shows, and character meet-and-greets throughout Warner Bros. Movie World.

We do not recommend visiting the park during this time if you want to experience Movie Worlds 'best rides & attractions'.
